Dead Child has risen from the ashes of post-rock legend Slint, as well as Shipping News, The For Carnation and more. Call it the first indie metal supergroup. And its unremarkable video for "Sweet Chariot" is another welcome sign that headbanging cool comes from riffs and screams, rather than therapists and Luddite paranoia.

The brainchild of Slint grads David Pajo and Michael McMahan, Dead Child is pure throwback metal, channeling the likes of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, just without the onstage Eddies or, in the case of openly gay Priest frontman Rob Halford, biker leather and Harley Davidsons.
