We can get down with Ted Nugent's respect for the Constitution, although his myopic obsession with its Second Amendment can get a little grating. I can't remember the last time I saw a minuteman leap down his front steps to defend against the British, but maybe that's just me.
"The Nuge," as he is occasionally known, has a new song out called "I Am The NRA" that magically equates political freedom with the right to own high-powered assault rifles and Teflon-coated bullets. Nugent recorded the song in Waco, Texas and debuted it at the NRA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, in May.
"We know in our hearts and souls that God gaveeach of us a precious, equal, miraculous gift of life," according to the enthusiastic rocker. "And we alsoknow, that if not for the formation and growth of this fundamentalgrassroots organization (we assume he's talking about the NRA here), individual American citizens would no longerhave that US Constitutionally guaranteed God given right to keep andbear arms for the protection of this gift. Thank God for the NRA."
His press release also claims the self-released song is available on NRA.org, but as far as I can tell, it's not. You can however stream a sample from his site, or pay $2 for the 128 Kbps MP3. I guess freedom really isn't free.
