Google gave its enterprise search business a shiny new name and a modest makeover. The service, now called Google Site Search (formerly called Custom Search Business Edition) lets web publishers index their sites with the Google search engine, and customize the service to their liking. The price starts at $100 per year for 5,000 web pages.
The company has also rolled out a few new features for the Google Site Search, including date biasing (so newer or older articles come up first in the search results, depending on the publishers' preference); top results biasing (so publishers can decide whether certain parts of the site, such as certain catalog pages, should be weighted more heavily); and synonyms, so webmasters can create a dictionary of synonyms, so, for example, if somebody does a search for "GM," results including the words "General Motors" might show up in the results.
