Dethklok is by far the most brutal cartoon band ever to grace the boob tube. On their Cartoon Network show, fans are routinely eviscerated, decapitated and worse in order to demonstrate the band’s true brutality and metalness.

Dethklok is on tour right now, in real form, as fronted by show co-creator and overall genius Brendan Small. Their Thursday show at San Francisco’s Fillmore took a turn for the cartoonish. A fire forced a brutal cancellation just as the band was preparing to take the stage.

Someone associated with the opening band, Soilent Green, may have set the mixing board on fire, forcing an evacuation. (Possiblecauses could include a spilt beer or some sort of spark infiltratingthe works.) A venue spokesperson told Pollstar, " despite reports of a fire and confusion, it was aminor issue and the building was evacuated in an orderly manner as asafety precaution."

Jim Harrington’s concert blog says " once outside, it was explained to the crowd that the reason forevacuation was a small fire, possibly electrical in nature. Althoughthe fire was not large, the situation was reportedly significant enoughto bring out several fire trucks."

Rather than Dethklok’s brutal assault, fans were treated to The Dan Band, fans can get full refunds at the box office or use their original tickets to get into the make-up show on June 9, also at the Fillmore. The Dan Band ‘s June 7 show will be postponed so that the problem can be fixed.

TheDethklok theme song is the only television show intro that I don’t endup fast-forwarding through. Observe its brutality to the above right (thevideo kicks off with the theme song, followed by damasta5553’s tenfavorite Dethklok moments).

Tickets are still available for the ongoing Dethklok tour (through Ticketmaster — talk about brutal).

Metallica’s James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett have made guest appearances on the show.
