Your loyal WiSci correspondent wrote an article this week about Silicon Valley millionaires' plans to build ocean seasteads, permanent colonies dedicated to experimentation with political and social systems (read: libertarianism).
In brief: Patri Friedman, a Google engineer, and Wayne Gramlich, a former Sun programmer, created a new organization called The Seasteading Institute and got bankrolled to the tune of $500,000by Paypal founder and libertarian celebrity, Peter Thiel.
It got some pretty good pickup out there on the Internets, and landed me on NPR's Bryant Park Project this morning. If you're interested in hearing what I sound like at 4:25 AM in the morning, you can listen to the segment. It's entitled, "Libertarian Island: No Rules, Just Rich Dudes."
