Just add the
newrelic.yml
file to your application's config directory, and you can use New Relic's RPM: Rails Performance Management. The tool watches your Rails site in real-time so you can keep a close eye on its stability, performance, and problems.
It's nice news for Rails, that it's being taken seriously in this way, inching into the enterprisy arena where Java hangs out. FiveRuns is out there too, giving New Relic some competition.
FiveRuns charges $40 per month per server; New Relic's pricing is unrevealed. Rolling your own solution is free, flexible, and educational, with the usual what-is-your-time-worth caveat, of course.
