More Dollhouse Fuel for Whedon's Hype Machine

The Dollhouse hype machine is chugging away. First up, a fresh clip that gives a glimpse of where Joss Whedon’s new sci-fi series will take us when it debuts in early 2009.

Here, we see Echo (played by Eliza Dushku) arguing with FBI agent Paul Smith  (Battlestar Galactica eye candy Tahmoh Penikett) over the disappearance of her sister.

We know the Dollhouse "dolls" get imprinted with memories — is this a deliberate plot twist to lead Agent Smith astray? Or are Echo’s memories melding into a goopy mess?

We’ll have to wait till January’s show premiere to find out. The good news is, we’ll get more bang for our TV-viewing buck: Fox is whittling down ad and promo time to five minutes per episode for Dollhouse and for J.J. Abrams’ Fringe, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It’s a high-profile test of a new commercial model Fox calls "Remote-Free TV."

E Online is reporting that the show could get even frakkin’ cooler — show creator Whedon hopes to bring Battlestar Galactica writer Jane Espenson on board to pen the series, which has been upped from a seven-episode order to 13 shows.
