LiveJournal, the online community of bloggers, which is owned by the Russian media company SUP, has announced that it will be holding an election. The advisory board, which consists thus far of appointed members danah boyd, Esther Dyson, Brad Fitzpatrick and Lawrence Lessig, will be supplemented by two bloggers.

The bloggers – one Russian, one non-Russian – will be chosen by a community vote. (The methodology is instant-runoff.) Nominations opened yesterday and remain open till May 14. The election runs the last week in May, and the winners take their seats June 1st.
