"Have you ever been experienced?" the greatest guitar player who ever lived once asked, before answering "I have." And now everyone can see just how experienced Jimi Hendrix was, if porn kingpin Vivid Video is to be believed.
The Los Angeles-based "entertainment group" procured 11 minutes of footage shot 40 years ago featuring a man alleged to be Hendrix having sex with two women, and turned it into a 45-minute DVD, according to the Associated Press. "Vivid took considerable time and spent a substantial sum of money toauthenticate the footage and we are very comfortable that this is thereal thing," Vivid Entertainment co-chairman Steven Hirsch explained in a statement.
Hendrix's estate, predictably, isn't happy at all about the release of the footage, and has disputed its authenticity. But one thing is for sure: Footage, fake and otherwise, of deceased icons is big biz in the new millennium. A similarly disputed sex tape of Marilyn Monroe was recently bought by a wealthy, anonymous New York businessman for $1.5 million, although he has no plans to release it.
