Ready for another short stack of Tinseltown-based music news? This one you can drink, evidently. It may even help you forget how bad the new Indiana Jones movie is.
Billy Bob Brands Cup of Joe: Listening Post already told you about Billy Bob Thornton's new band The Boxmasters. Now the actor/musician and his crew of well-dressed men have teamed with Coffee Fool to deliver a branded brew (pictured), one they describe as reeking of "waffle batter with smokey undertones."
Coffee Fool has also branded java for Styx. Who's next? My money is on Motley Crue, a band that's finding such branding is one of the only ways to stay alive, much less awake, in the internet age.
John Williams Saves Indiana Jones: Yes, my friends, the reviews for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (the who-da-what-what?) are in, and the critics are not exactly raving. But we'll always have John Williams, whose soundtrack for the film is available Tuesday from Concord Music Group.
The release will be followed by a four-disc box set featuring all the soundtracks from the Indy franchise, which have lately been out of print for almost a decade. Which is weird, because Williams' soundtracking is as immediately recognizable as the films themselves: Who here cannot summon the theme to Jaws or Star Wars on command? Exactly.
