The man whose name has become practically synonymous with Bungie Studios and Halo, Frank O'Connor, announced that he will be leaving the studio to join Microsoft.
As writing lead for Bungie, O'Connor led the crew responsible for writing all things Halo, including game scripts, dialog, and books. As a result, he became the public face of the Halo franchise and, by extension, Bungie.
O'Connor broke the news of his departure in his Weekly Update on Bungie's web site, revealing that he is "off to work more closely with Microsoft on the Halo franchise." He also took a moment to thank the Halo community for "being the most energized, enthusiastic, loyal, faithful, creative, imaginative and incredible community any video game could ever have."
As a parting gift, O'Connor dropped hints about Bungie's next project, calling it "an experience that is destined to surprise, amaze and entertain like nothing we’ve ever made before."
