And another one bites the dust: Elliot Schrage is packing up following fellow ex-Googler Sheryl Sandberg over to Facebook, where he'll serve as VP of communications and public policy.
Although Facebook hasn't confirmed the hire yet, Kara Swisher , of All Things D, got a copy of the memo about his new role at Facebook.
While Valleywag claims that Schrage's move was spurred by CEO Eric Schmidt's recreational activities, one ex-Googler we spoke with was skeptical.
"I think the move was probably more about the opportunity Facebook presented. I don't know what Facebook is offering, but it's probably his chance to get in early at another big one . . . He wasn't just your typical PR head. He had a varied role [at Google] and was involved in strategic decisions beyond just monitoring how [Google] speaks to the press."
To be sure, there's more upside in a $15 billion private startup than a massive, mature machine that is Google.
