Ex-Rocketboom host Amanda Congdon’s pockets just got a little deeper, thanks to funding from film and digital studio Media Rights Capital.
The company, which has backed Richard Kelly’s upcoming film The Box as well as projects by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane and Grindhouse director Robert Rodriguez, announced Monday a partnership with Congdon to fund her new online web show, Sometimesdaily.
"Never before have I had the freedom or resources to make a show like Sometimesdaily," said Congdon in a press release issued Monday. "I’m looking forward to whipping out a couple of old moves, and trying out a bunch of new ones."
Love her or hate her, Congdon’s deal represents the turning tide of media. Her partnership is likely just the beginning of much more to come — I’m willing to bet we’ll be seeing more web celebs getting backing from big companies for digital ventures.
Congdon returned to the small screen earlier this month with the launch of her self-described "digital variety show." The most recent installment (embedded above) features the former ABC News host and her motley crew of friends at a Hillary Clinton rally in West Virginia.
