A London Underground drivers' union said that it will protest at the premiere of a new British comedy based off of suicides in the city's subway network.

The film, Three and Out, stars Mackenzie Crook (from the British series, The Office) as a London Tube driver who has, within a few days, two people fall onto the tracks and crushed by his train. He later learns from his friends that if one hits three people in a month, the driver is paid off with 10 years of salary. The character then tries to find someone who is willing to jump in front of his train in order to receive his benefits (and to finish writing a novel).

ASLEF, the union representing train drivers, says that train suicides are not to be joked about. Crushing someone who has fallen onto the tracks is "life-changing traumas for drivers who have been involved," as stated by the ASLEF general secretary, Keith Norman. ASLEF will be handing out pamphlets at the premiere in London.

Last year, a reported 249 people died on London Underground tracks, of which 194 were noted as suicides.
