We're suckers for a good time-wasting Twitter mashup; throw in some 3-D graphics and we're sold. Which is exactly what TwittEarth does, using Flash to display tweets on a 3-D globe that rotates and pans as new messages pop up.

The tweets are marked with some funky icons that look like they were borrowed from the Nickelodeon scrap bin, but the effect is still somehow captivating and it's currently preventing me from getting to today's more important stories.

For the truly addicted there's even a Windows XP screensaver version available (a Mac version is said to be in the works). TwittEarth is the brain child of a couple designers at Digitas France.
