Travis McGeathy, former lead designer on Everquest, has left Sony Online Entertainment for a gig as the systems design lead on 38 Studios' mysterious upcoming MMO, codenamed "Copernicus."

His move is merely the latest in a string of high-profile personnel acquisitions for an MMO maker created as a collaboration between former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, fantasy novelist R.A. Salvatore and toy designer/comic book artist Todd McFarlane.

Almost nothing is known of "Copernicus," the company's first MMO (and first ever title, for that matter), though constantly spraying us with press releases trumpeting the latest big-name industry veteran to join their team is a sure way to push expectations right past attainable levels.
