The* Earthworm Jim* revival continues with the news that a new animated series starring the heroic worm is in the works.
The original Earthworm Jim animated series ran for two seasons on the Kids WB in the mid nineties, and was chock full of surreally hilarious moments. Jim's sidekick Peter Puppy would mutter the Bene Gesserit litany against fear to prevent himself from turning into a monster, for example. So nerdy. So funny.
Interplay will be working with Jim creator Doug TenNapel on the new cartoon as well as a feature film. Interplay also recently announced that Earthworm Jim is one of the franchises due for sequel, along with other beloved oldies like Descent and MDK.
The Genesis versions of both Earthworm Jim and Earthworm Jim 2 will be coming to the Virtual Console sometime this year. Everyone seems to have forgotten about Earthworm Jim 3-D, and I think we can all agree it's better that way.
No time frame was given for the new Earthworm Jim cartoon, movie, or game, but we'll keep you posted. Groovy!
