MP3: My Morning Jacket Unleashes Evil Urges

Acclaimed indie rockers My Morning Jacket are back with a new effort about Google’s favorite subject. Evil Urges is scheduled for release June 20 on ATO Records.

My Morning Jacket — the Kentucky-bred brainchild of Jim James, who starred in the Bob Dylan biopic I’m Not There — has amped up the proceedings this time around, as evidenced by the title track, offered below as a free MP3 download. It’s the type of studio-friendly stomp that ought to help the band shake the alt-country label for good.

James expounded on the meaning of the title in a recent press release:

"The world today is such a confused place. Things that people think are good values are obviously twisted, but there are other things considered evil that obviously aren’t. There is real evil out there, but Evil Urges is about how all of these things that you’ve been told are evil really aren’t, unless they’re actually hurting something or somebody."

ATO has distributed the American CD release of Radiohead’s In Rainbows.
