Where is John Stewart when you need him?
The magnificent Lexus LS 600h hybrid is about as green as a Chinese coal-powered electric plant. It weighs more than 5,000 pounds. It's got a 5-liter V8 engine. It gets 20 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway. But hey, it's a hybrid!
To help ease the rich-liberals' guilt for buying such an absurdly excessive machine, Lexus is now offering a package deal with Fairmont Hotels. "Hybrid living suites" are available for Lexus customers in San Francisco and Washington. These feature furniture, bedding and towels made from organic, sustainable and renewable resources. The minibar is stocked with "biodynamic" wines and organic farmstead cheeses. During your stay, you get to test drive a Lexus LS 600h hybrid sedan. The suites cost $869 a night.
Satire is dead.
