More details have come to light about the Joy Division edition of the Microsoft Zune, which will feature a a modified version of the album cover of the band's debut, Unknown Pleasures. The device will coincide (roughly) with the June 10 release release of "Joy Division The Documentary."

A Zune spokeswoman confirmed earlier that the Joy Division Zune will feature the famous "pulsar CP 1919" design, and now comes word that the special edition player will come with the documentary preloaded so Joy Division fans will be able to watch it around the time of its debut and long after:

Zune is working with The Weinstein Company and Peter Saville on a design for a limited edition Zune digital media player to commemorate the release of "Joy Division The Documentary." The critically acclaimed film, which will be preloaded on the custom player, chronicles the story of the seminal post-punk band via first-hand accounts from the surviving band members and those who worked closely with them during their brief, but highly influential existence. The exclusive device will be available for purchase and we will provide additional details on this collaboration in the near future.

It looks like the notion of MP3 players as media distribution platforms is taking hold.
