Theoretically, Grand Theft Auto IV's M-rating should keep it out of the hands of youngsters, but kids have plenty of ways of circumventing the rules, as some quickie research conducted by What They Play reveals.

A number of kids, under promise of anonymity, revealed just how they planned on getting their hands on the game when it's released next week. Responses like "I am mature any my parents know this is just a video game" are encouraging, but others like "Since my mom and dad got divorced, it's pretty easy to convince one of them to buy whatever we want" are just plain depressing.

Many of the children mentioned buying the game from a store that doesn't bother with age checks, but at least one kid isn't worried either way: "My mom doesn't have a clue about games, or ratings, so we'll just go in and get it."

Further proof that trying to keep kids from getting their hands on verboten videogames is like nailing Jell-O to a tree, folks.
