Comic icon turned big screen auteur Frank Miller returns to the director’s chair with his latest film, The Spirit.
The short teaser trailer (right), which surfaced online Sunday, features little plot info — but in a visual style that is distinctly Miller, stark outlines are juxtaposed with color-spattered imagery set to a riveting soundtrack.
Adapted from Will Eisner’s graphic novel of the same name, the film boasts a star-studded roster of characters: Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Jaime King.
The much anticipated action flick tells the story of a former rookie cop who mysteriously returns from the dead to fight crime.
The Spirit is slated to hit theaters January 16, 2009.
