The Eurostar rail link between London and continental Europe has stolen more passengers from the airlines. Twenty-one percent more people opted to take the train from London to Paris and Brussels this year's first quarter than last.
Since the opening of High Speed 1, which links the Channel Tunnel with a new terminal in London, the trip from London to Paris takes two hours and 15 minutes and you can make it to Brussels in just under two hours. Eurostar trains now terminate at the newly-renovated Saint-Pancras station (next to Kings Cross), offering a connection to six Tube lines.
Eurostar says people are growing increasingly conscious of the environmental impacts that come with different modes of transportation. Eurostar boasts that its provides carbon-neutral transportation by purchasing carbon credits to offset the emissions made by generating the train's electricity.
As a bonus to an environmentally friendly, city-center to city-center trip, 93% of Eurostar's trains arrived within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival times. Try beating that, easyJet!
