The UK may be getting screwed when it comes to Rock Band pricing, but the fact they'll soon be able to watch Doctor Who and Torchwood on their Nintendo Wiis almost makes up for it. Well, maybe not, but it's still pretty damn cool.
The BBC recently announced that its BBC iPlayer, which allows viewers to watch replays of BBC programs (sorry, programmes) for a limited time after they originally air, will be available on the Wii.
"Working with Nintendo marks another exciting milestone for BBC
iPlayer," said the BBC's Erik Huggers. Last month, iPlayer became available on the iPod Touch and the iPhone.
"This exciting alliance with the BBC is yet another way in which
Nintendo is looking to broaden the market for its products by offering compelling and relevant content to families," said David Yarnton, general manager of Nintendo UK.
Wii owners currently have to pay a one-time fee to install the Internet
Channel, but the BBC is apparently looking for ways to make the iPlayer free in the future.
