There are a lot of weird cars on display at the Geneva Motor Show, but perhaps none so weird as the Sbarro Assystem city car concept.
It's made of plastic and looks like a helmet Daffy Duck would wear in a Duck Dodgers short. We have no idea how it works -- while the press release and press kit tell you all about the "man-machine interface" with its "context sensitive menus" and "augmented reality" system, it says nothing about the drivetrain beyond mentioning "two autonomous motor units for a more energy-saving hybrid motorisation." Yes, they spelled it with an "s." They're European.
We can tell you the diamond-shape wheel layout allows the Assystem to turn on a dime -- the front and rear wheels turn 90 degrees, so you can do amazing donuts. If you get bored with that, it's got internet access and a DVD player.
The Sbarro Assystem has some cool hardware -- infrared camera for night driving, anyone? -- and we're all in favor of small city cars. But it's just so weird we're inviting you to write a caption. We'll pick some finalists by Tuesday and let you decide who wins. The winner gets a Wired T-shirt.
