Greg Donovan, producer of Saints Row 2, admits that the game "won't be bug free" when it's released later this year but, he says, no game is.
Rather than attempt the impossible (in this case, making a game free of imperfections), Volition decided to put their energy into "iterating the gameplay now" so that what does come out is as polished as it possibly can be.
"We have a full QA team on it, we've been able to undergo a massive engine overhaul," said Donovan. Volition is developing 360 and PS3 versions of Saints Row 2 simultaneously, but the 360 is the lead platform.
Donovan's acknowledgment that no game is without issues is refreshingly candid, but admitting that your game will have bugs on ship day seems about as smart as telling your girlfriend that yes, you do find her sister attractive.
