In the news today, Yahoo! is joining Google's OpenSocial initiative. OpenSocial is a specification for linking up social networking applications so they can all play together.
(I found the news at http://www.appscout.com/2008/03/yahoo_joins_opensocial_forms_f.php, but I won't link you to that page because of its egregious IntelliTXT popup ads. See, somebody's looking out for you. Here's a nice safe link.)
What interests me more than Yahoo's allegiances and shenanigans is Shindig, an open-source reference implementation of OpenSocial that you can install on your own web server. Has anyone tried this out?
