Microsoft will be testing Xbox 360's abilities as a hub for original entertainment when it brings six shows to the service this summer.
The as yet unnamed shows are likely to fall into the comedy, horror, or sci-fi genres, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The shows are being produced by Safran Digital, whose COO Jake Zim led digital marketing campaigns for 28 Weeks Later and The Hills Have Eyes during his stint as Fox Atomic's vice president.
Safran Digital's CEO, Peter Safran, most recently produced Meet the Spartans and Over Her Dead Body. Safran chose not to elaborate about the shows' specific content, suggesting only that it would fall in line with the tastes of Xbox Live's audience.
"We had a very specific idea that we knew worked for a core audience. Xbox clearly has this exact same demographic," he said.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that none of the shows have to do with a group of fifty-something women running a small antique store in rural Maine.
