If you rushed home with your copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, only to be met with a face full of disc read errors, you're not alone. Nintendo figures it's the result of the same problem that plagued the Japanese release of Brawl a few months ago -- dirty Wii lenses.
Brawl is the first double-layer disc released for the Wii, and a bit of shmutz on your Wii's lens can prevent the game from running properly. Nintendo begs you not to try cleaning it yourself, as you'll likely just end up breaking your console and crying bitter, bitter tears over your own ham-fistedness.
Fill out this repair form on Nintendo's website, and they'll be more than happy to clean your Wii for you. Both the repair and the shipping are free, though it's tough to say how long it will all take. You'll be Wii-less during the repair process, of course, but is it really worth having a Wii that won't play Brawl? Thought not.
