LEGO Systems, Inc., yesterday announced the 2nd Annual Creation Nation Creativity Awards. Through May 23rd, 2008, Children in the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec) and who are the ages of 6-13 can submit written essays that demonstrate creative ways of thinking their way around everyday challenges.
Five finalists will each receive $5,000 to pursue creative pursuits like art supplies or music lessons.
Last year over 1,000 kids submitted essays. One 2007 winner organized a fundraiser to spruce up a neighborhood pool and turn it into a water park. Another kid created a wooden step that helped his great-grandmother climb into the family minivan.
The list of judges includes GeekDad supreme chancellor Chris Anderson, celebrity chef Duff Goldman, and author Dave Eggers, among others.
