"Won't it be too small for me?" is the question we're hearing most often as friends, neighbors and total strangers admire/puzzle overour new Smart car.
I decided to make it easy for y'all by coming up with a formula. I've multiplied the likelihood you'll need to accommodate a certain life item (spouse, child, giant 32-roll packs of toilet paper) on a given trip on a scale of 10 (always) to 0 (never). Multiply by the amount of space that item would take up (2 for the passenger seat, 1 for the whole cargo area, etc.)
Simply add up the items that apply to you. If your total is less than 15, a Smart car ought to work for you:
- Spouse = 6
- Child over 12 = 2
- Child under 12 = 12
- Small dog = 2
- Large dog = 4
- Cat = 0.5
- Costco membership = 9
