911_2If you can afford a Porsche 911, you can probably afford the daily 25-pound ($48.72) carbon tax charge to drive it into downtown London. Still, Porsche is crying foul. The British arm of the German sports car maker is threatening to apply for "a judicial review" of the city's policy. The Cayman and the Boxster escape the fees because of their smaller engines, which don't emit more than the 226 g/km limit.

Mayor Ken Livingstone shows no signs of backing down. According to "Forbes," a spokesperson for the mayor stated flatly, "No-one is allowed to throw their rubbish in the street and Porsche should not be allowed to impose gas-guzzling polluting cars on
Londoners who do not want them." The green gas charge is an extension of the 8-pound congestion pricing plan that has already roiled many commuters. It has been challenged in court before--to no avail. Porsche contends that the fee will have practically no effect on reducing emissions in the city and unfairly punishes people who already own 911s.
