Nobody wants to lug around a giant video camera, but every budding Spike Jones wants to record high def vids of the random, funny stuff that erupts around them. Luckily Moore's law, combined with a number of other factors, is shrinking technology at a rapid pace. The latest development (har har) in the digital photography world is the release of a number of compact digital cameras that can capture 720p digital video at 30 frames per second.
Samsung and Panasonic and both on board with this tech. Let's take a look at what they have to offer.
Samsung's new NV24 HD is a tiny little bad-boy that features a 10
megapixel sensor, a 24mm (equivalent) wide-angle lens, a 2.5 inch LCD
screen, and of course 720p video recording at 30 frames per second.
Available in black and silver for around $350. Man, even its guts are sexy:
Similar to the Samsung (although slightly larger) is the Panasonic
TZ5. It sports a smaller 8 megapixel sensor but a longer 10x zoom lens. The TZ5 is also available in black and silver (what, are all cam designers Raiders fans?) and lists for $350.
