SAN FRANCISCO --
We were intrigued by the idea of earning gold to use in Fable 2 by playing pub games on Xbox Live Arcade, but we also wondered what effect that would have on the game's economy.
With the first Arcade game being released six weeks before Fable 2 is due out, players will have the opportunity to be stinking rich before they so much as set foot in Albion.
Probably not stinking rich enough for it to make a difference, though. Just about everything is for sale in* Fable 2* -- houses, castles, dungeons (yes, dungeons, monsters and all)-- and to buy it all will cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of one billion gold.
So even if you've amassed a million gold pieces by the time Fable 2 is released, "you'll really only have enough to buy a really nice house," Molyneux told me. "Albion has UK housing prices."
