This view (right) of Chelsea - the New York one - is currently hanging high up over Soho - the London one - in an exhibition by East Coast photographer, Michael Cardinali.

The Mumford Fine Art show features work coming out of an interesting tech mix. Cardinali, back at school for an MFA at Massachusetts College of Art, has made a striking portrait triptych using one of last remaining-large format Polaroid cameras (the kit weights a hefty 250 pounds, and travels on wheels). Cardinali's online portfolio includes an atmospheric addition to the cityscapes of New York: a view of the 2003 blackout made with a traditional plate camera. The photographer was working in a darkroom when the outage hit (emerging from his own gloom, he thought a fuse had blown).
A walk home to Queen's presented a neat opportunity, a slow expose of inky Astoria by generator glow. Cardinali's show runs thru March 15.
