Dubbed Comics Double as Surrealist Meditations on Life

Picture_9_2 Remember those hacked Garfield comics that removed Garfield’s thought bubbles) and deleted the cat entirely, revealing a strange subtext to Jon Arbuckle’s life, and a bizarre, darker relationship to his pet cat?

What about the same concept, only this time tackling the lonely void of existence with vintage video games?

Furthering the meditative journey through popular culture comes Nestography, a series of screenshots from classic NES video games paired with cryptic phrases.

By adding simple PostSecret-like confessionals like "Could I be that happy?" and "Don’t be delicate; f*ck me harder" with classic 8-bit sequences, the Nestography series of images produce a nostalgic, humoring look at the one-sided relationship of gaming.

Adam Mathes, the creator, posted a few words about his project on the site:

"It’s hard to tell whether you play video games because you have no friends, can’t get the opposite sex to notice you, have trouble sustaining a relationship, don’t want to keep a steady job or whether, in fact, maybe those things are a result of said addiction."

"I want to love me as much as I love them and they can’t, so I have to fill in the blanks myself."
