Beijing's new airport, unveiled today, is as high tech as it comes, but its design is a nod to Chinese tradition. The British architects fashioned it to look like a dragon, while the interior color and design is influenced by Chinese temples.

Chief architect Sir Norman Foster describes it as "a celebration of the thrill and poetry of flight." Billed as the largest building in the world, it took just four years from design to completion. See more detailed spec and photos here.

The airport is one of the architectural highlights of this year's Beijing Olympics. The event itself has been courting controversy since blueprint stage.
