Venture Capital firm Benchmark has raised $500 million for its sixth fund,
According to a report in VentureBeat. Benchmark is best known for backing auction site eBay, and has scored a few recent multimillion dollar exits within the past year through its investments in Tellme, Zimbra, and MySQL, which sold to Microsoft, Yahoo, and Sun Microsystems respectively. Current Benchmark-backed companies include Linden Labs, which runs the well-known virtual world Second Life, review service Yelp, and social networks Bebo and Friendster.
