As soon as rumors began circulating thatSony was ditching the 80 GB PS3, speculation began that they were doing so to make room for a 120 GB model, but Sony is dismissive of such notions.

A spokesperson for Sony UK called the mutterings about a 120 GB version "rumors and speculation," though SCEE's David Reeves has made hints about such a version in the past.

When discussing the decision not to release the 80 GB PS3 in Europe, Reeves said, "the difference between 60 and the 80 gigabyte is very small. We just feel that going up 20 gigabyte is not worth it. If you're going to double it, it's worth it. So maybe you'll see something a little bit later..."

Now, my math skills aren't that great, but I'm pretty sure that if you double 60, you get 120. Were Reeves' comments a portent of things to come, or just coincidence? You tell me.
