Sigma, which has cast its lot with Foveon's curious and arguably superior three-pixels-in-one image sensor, is getting closer to having a compact camera based on the chip. Sigma now says the oft-delayed DP1 will be ready this spring. Expect 4.6 or 14 megapixels (depending on who's counting), RAW mode, attachment for an external viewfinder, a surprisingly fast and wide-angle lens for a compact shooter and usable manual focus. Price is still TBA.
