SeesmicPalm Desert, Calif. -- Video site Seesmic launched new Flash-based social features on stage on Demo yesterday. With the new features, Seesmic aims to enable conversations between users. Participants record short videos in which they ask a question or posit their opinion about whatever is on their mind. Other users then record and upload replies to the videos, which facilitate a back-and-forth exchange of short clips.

Seesmic was founded by French entrepreneur Loic Le Meur, pictured here with Seesmic employee Cathy Brooks. To date, the company has about 4,000 beta testers worldwide, with about 2,000 using the site on a regular basis. But those 2,000 users seem to be responding enthusiastically, uploading about 4,000 videos per day, according to Le Meur.

Seesmic has raised $6 million from Atomico, the fund headed by Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis. Notable angel investors include Jeff Clavier and Ron Conway, tech bloggers Michael Arrington and Dave Winer, and entrepreneurs Martin Varasky from FON and AOL founder Steve Case.
