Samsung's NV11, with its groovy control layout and sharp optics, was one of my favorite tryouts last year, and the company is back with some promising addition to the NV line, all with the Smart Touch user interface. The new NV4 is another questionable stab at a convergence device, combining an 8-megapixel, 3x-zoom camera with a personal media player. The NV30 and NV40 are straight up cameras with 8 and 10 megapixels, respectively, and a smart LCD screen that adjusts brightness to suit ambient lighting. All arrive in February, with prices of $280 for the NV4 and NV30, $330 for the NV40.
On the pricier side is the NV24HD, which combines a 10-megapixel still camera with an HD camcorder. You also get an HDMI interface for showing home movies on an HD TV set. Look for it in March, priced at $350.
Also on the convergence end is the new i8, an 8-megapixel, 3x-zoom shooter with advanced video capability and a fairly advanced media player that among other formats can play virtual Rick Steves by showing videos from Samsung's World Tour Guide series. It arrives next month priced at $300.
Finally, on the budget end, the no-surprises-here 8-megapixel L100 and
L110 and 10-megapixel L210 cameras arrive in March, priced at $200 for the L100, $230 for the L110 and $270 for the L210.
