Almost every big manufacturer has released new digital single-lens-reflex (DSLR) cameras at PMA this week. If you're looking to upgrade your photo quality and you want a camera with interchangeable lenses you now have a few more choices. Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax and Samsung must have gotten together and had a strategy meeting, because they've all released new entry-level SLRs that are packed full of professional level features.

All of the cameras below retail for around $1,000 or less with a kit lens included. As an aficionado of fine glass, I always recommend people shy away from the kit lenses and buy a higher end lens, but it's your money. Keep on reading for a quick overview and photos of the new SLR offerings.

Nikon

Nikon's new D60 features a 10.2 megapixel CCD sensor, 3 frames per second continuos shooting, active dust reduction, a 2.5" screen and a new tiny body. It will be available at the end of March for roughly $750 with a kit lens.

Sony

Sony's new offerings include the brand new A350, a 14.1-megapixel camera with live view and the A300, a 10.2-megapixel SLR. They feature
3 frames per second shooting, ISO 3200 and a 2.7 inch LCD. Both cameras will be available in March with kit lenses for around $800 and
$900.

Pentax

The new Pentax K200D is an entry level DSLR, with many features normally found in high-end cameras. The body is weather-sealed to resist dust and moisture in harsh conditions and features a CCD based shake-reduction. The sensor is a 10.2-megapixel CCD, features dust removal and sports a 2.7" LCD. The K200 lists for $799 and will be available at the end of March.

Canon

Canon's new Rebel XSi is a 12.2 megapixel CMOS DSLR. It features a massive 3-inch LCD
display, with Live View and captures 3.5 frames per second. It employs
Canon's latest image processing chip, the DIGIC III, which produces images with extremely low noise. It will be available at the end of
March for around $800.

Samsung

The Samsung GX20 is roughly the same camera as the Pentax K20D, and thus will list for closer to $1200. Like the K20D it features a 14.6
megapixel sensor, 2.7" LCD display, ISO 3200 and CCD sensor stabilization. The only differences between the K20D and the GX20 is a slightly different case and a different JPEG algorithm.
