Diego Digeo, the folks behind the Moxi DVR line, has scaled back both its workforce and product line. The company, which has long struggled to gain traction against TiVo and the settop box mafia, eliminated about half its jobs and several products in the pipeline.

Gone are the Moxi Multi-Room HD DMR (which CNET was rather impressed with) and the Moxi Home Cinema Edition DMR. (Because the boxes can record more than video, Moxi refers to them as "digital media recorders" (DMR), which may be some of the reason they're still struggling to establish an identity.) The company will go ahead with the Moxi HD DVR for Cable, now in trial distribution through various cable partners, and focus on development of a next-gen DMR.

P.S. -- Can't help but notice that both canceled products are still featured prominently on the Moxi home page...
