Despite reports and crossed fingers that Xbox Live was back to normal, it's still suffering from the same glitchy service that's been plaguing it for weeks, and Microsoft is giving away free Arcade games to apologize.
The problem seems to be that Live simply can't handle the record-breaking surge of new members who signed up for it over the holiday season. According to Marc Whitten, Xbox Live's general manager, the Live team is "disappointed in our performance."
To show how much they appreciate Live subscribers putting up with the stinko service, Microsoft "will be offering all of our Xbox Live members around the world access to a full Xbox Live Arcade game that will be available to download free of charge." Details on the specifics will be coming soon.
Oh, and mine's back on the fritz, too. It worked really well for about a day and then crapped out again.
