The National Venture Capital Association announced that venture capital firms raised over $34 billion dollars in 2007, its highest total since 2001. (For comparison, that's about the same amount as Syria's GDP.) If you're keeping score, Technology Crossover Ventures, a late-stage private equity/venture firm, raised the largest fund, at $3 billion. That's $1.7 billion more than its closest competitor -- and nearly 10% of the entire venture capital industry's fundraising for the year.
