Enter Kaiju Big Battel, a live-action tournament-style performance event, where costumed characters with playful names like Steam Powered Tentacle Boulder and Uchu Chu the Space Bug duke it out on a paper-maché landscape.

The hybrid of American pro-wrestling with the geeky weirdness of Japanese monster movies has steadily built a cult-like following, that attracts the masses eager for a romp and some good ol' fashioned lowbrow fun.

The next Big Battel showdown kicks off Feb. 9 in New York City, at Webster for an event dubbed the "New York Blackout."
