A press release on the company's site (thank you, Google translator) confirms that a project is in the works, but doesn't provide further details. Do we really need them, though? It's Sam & Max!

Call me overly optimistic, but I'm hoping that the popularity of the Wii could lead to an adventure game renaissance.

The Wiimote is perfect for point-and-click gameplay, and the puzzle-solving nature of adventure games is well suited to kibbitzing and help from the peanut gallery. You might not be able to figure out what to do with the gum wrapper and the block of cheese, but perhaps the person sitting next to you on the couch has an idea or two.

Adventure games could even become a family activity, if developers tailored puzzles to age groups or ability levels. Perhaps to clear an area, you might have to solve several "easy" puzzles or one "hard" one, so that the kids and the parents could take help each other out.

This is also a fine time to plug Zack & Wiki, a smart and delightful adventure game that you probably haven't played, shame on you. It'll kick your ass around the room a few times, but you'll feel like an absolute genius when you finally make it all the way through a particularly difficult level.
