It never fails. Post about something you can't find online, and someone will inevitably respond with a place where it can be heard. One of the creators of CloudSpeakers saw our post about Matador pulling down its free MP3 page, in which we bemoaned the label's lack of an MP3 preview from Cat Power's Jukebox album.
CloudSpeakers co-creator Adriaan Bol (his twin brother Chris founded the site in November) pointed me towards a page on CloudSpeakers with a link to a stream of the new Cat Power album, hosted on a Dutch public radio and television station's server.
Investigating CloudSpeakers further, I found lots more to like. Thesite bills itself as "a music aggregator of links to reviews, audiosand video" that "aim[s] to give the music fan a better experience byordering the online music reviews, audios and videos" availableonline, and it lives up to that billing.
Everywhere you look, there are links to news, reviews, songs, andvideos culled from blogs, reviews sites, YouTube, label sites, and other resources,
plus thoughtful touches like MySpace and Wikipedia links for eachartist, and email or RSS alerts when something new shows up relating to one of your artists.
This is a music-oriented news reader on steroids, backed by asocial network where users can build profile pages, add media from thesite to them, leave comments, and so on. But without the clean, direct accessto music, news, and videos that the site provides, there'd be a lot less to talk about.
