The official Pirates of the Burning Sea website has been updated with a full run-down on the subscription prices for the soon-to-launch MMO.

According to the site, the prices are as follows:

  • 1 month subscription: $14.99
  • 3 month subscription: $41.99
  • 6 month subscription: $77.99
  • 12 month subscription: $143

Well, no surprises here. These prices have become the industry standard for MMOs over the last few years, and as usual, it costs less to subscribe to the longer subscription plans.

Personally, I was so utterly enchanted with the idea of living the life of a virtual Errol Flynn, but after 3 years of WoW (and WoW-derivative games such as Lord of the Rings: Online), I think my brain is just so utterly saturated with Blizzard's play mechanics that I can't enjoy anything not extremely similar. While that lends credence to Mr. Massey's argument from earlier today, I have to hope I'm the vast minority here, if only because the genre needs more creative, original ideas.

Any other beta players out there who had the same experience (and/or would like to insult my parentage or my recently deceased dog for even suggesting such a thing)?
